General

Do you provide tours of your barn?
Yes, tours are available upon request. Appointments are available 7 days per week, to work with any schedule. Typically, most clients should provide one/two-day’s notice. Tour times generally take about an hour at a leisurely pace.
How many people can Crest Farm Barn accommodate?
Crest Farm Barn can comfortably accommodate 200+ people. We can easily accommodate 250 people if you have an outside wedding and 150-200 if the wedding is in the barn.
How many tables & chairs come with the venue rental?
We have 15 round tables, 10 rectangle tables, 200 (white) outdoor wedding chairs, and 100 folding chairs.
How many hours does the rental fee include, and is there an overtime fee if I stay longer?
The rental fee includes the use of the barn from 9:00 AM-10:00 PM, unless other arrangements are needed and pre-approved.

The Barn is also available for 3 hours the night before if the schedule allows, but an additional fee is required.

Is on-site parking available?
Yes, on-site parking is available. Utilizing the main parking lot, as well as three overflow parking lots, Crest Farm Barn can comfortably park 75-85 cars. In addition to guest parking, we also have designated parking spaces for the Bride, Groom, and other members of the wedding party. Finally, Crest Farm Barn can park another 100 cars directly across from the main entrance to the property.
Is the site handicap accessible?
Yes, we have a poured concrete area that is ADA compliant. We also have a poured concrete area where handicap and senior citizens can be dropped off before the wedding and can be picked up after the wedding.
Is alcohol allowed at Crest Farm Barn?
Alcohol is allowed if provided by the wedding but must be brought on-site and removed from the site on the day of the event and by the client. A bartender and a security officer are required when the client chooses to serve alcohol. Security is available at a cost of $150 for a four-hour period (some plans include security). Wedding parties should stop serving alcohol at least 30 minutes before the end of the reception. The barn wants your guests to have a memorable experience and get home safely.
Is smoking or vaping allowed at your venue?
Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere on the premises.
Are sparklers or fireworks permitted?
You may use sparklers, but only in the designed area. Someone in your party must be responsible for the protection of small children, making sure someone doesn’t start a fire, and for the cleanup. Fireworks are not permitted on the property.
Are pets allowed on the property?
To ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean environment for all our guests, we do not permit pets on the property. However, Crest Farm Barn does allow service animals to accompany guests as needed.
Do you have liability insurance?
Crest Farm Barn is insured, but additional event insurance is required all events.
Does Crest Farm Barn require clients to obtain event insurance for all events?
Yes. This insurance can be purchased online or through our local insurance agent, Jacob Vail. The average price for such insurance normally ranges from $150-$250. You must present your event insurance certificate the week before your event.
What's your weather contingency (backup) plan for outdoor spaces?
A contingency plan should be developed by the renting party. In the event of rain, tents may be rented and utilized, as well as the barn.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, certified checks, credit cards, and debit cards (Square).

Weddings

Do you host weddings on days other than Saturdays?
Absolutely! While most weddings occur on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, we can arrange for a weekday wedding if it fits your schedule and/or budget.
Can we do both the ceremony and the reception at Crest Farm Barn?
Absolutely. Many of our wedding parties choose to have both events at The Barn.
How many site visits are allowed?

After the initial visit, we allow 2 additional visits to the Barn prior to your wedding day, each visit lasting no longer than 1.5 hours and scheduled by appointment only. Your vendors and/or any family members assisting with the planning of your wedding may be present at your appointments. More visits are possible, but an additional fee will be charged.

If the ceremony is outdoors, are there additional costs?
There are no additional charges to have an outdoor wedding, unless inclement weather forces your party indoors. You would then need to decide how the barn should be set up to handle your wedding.
Do you offer a wedding planner?
Yes, Mrs. Sam Schmotz is available for a very reasonable fee. In fact, Emerald and Diamond packages include her services. She is a tremendous asset to the wedding party, especially since she will assist you in every aspect of the wedding: minimizing stress, staying on a budget, detailed planning, and will recommend excellent/trustworthy vendors. Her cost will be based on what services you need/require.
Is clean-up of my wedding available, if so how much is it, and what does it include?
A $300 clean-up service is available as a convenience to the wedding party (cleaning is included in some packages). This fee includes cleaning up the barn, grounds, parking lot, all restrooms, bar, kitchen, bride and groom quarters. This service will not begin until all decorations and personal items belonging to the wedding party have been removed.
Are there changing areas for the Bride, Groom, and/or wedding party?
Yes. The entire second floor is designated for the Bride and Groom. The Groom has a groom’s quarter on the north end of the barn and the Bride has a suite that includes a living space/makeup room, bedroom, bathroom with a tile shower, and bar.
If we rent the barn on the night before the wedding, how much time is allocated for the rehearsal?
3 hours. Guests must be out of the facility by 10:00 p.m. unless prior approval is granted.
Can I bring in a cake from an outside baker?
Absolutely. Keep in mind that you will need to appoint someone to cut your cake during the ceremony.
Can we do a food tasting before we finalize our menu selection?
Absolutely, in fact, we recommend it. The availability and cost should be coordinated with your Wedding Planner and with the vendor.
Can we use flaming candles before, during, or after the wedding?
No, flaming candles are allowed on the property.

EVENT DETAILS

When should I communicate my setup plan to Crest Farm Barn?
The setup format plan, which includes table/chair arrangement, must be submitted to the Crest Farm Barn at least five (5) days in advance of the event. If at all possible, rental equipment should be delivered to the property by appointment only and should be scheduled 48 hours in advance.
Can we have whatever caterer or florist we want?
Unless otherwise approved, all caterers must come from the approved vendor list. These professional, licensed and insured caterers represent Birmingham’s finest to offer a wedding party a variety of foods and prices. Florists and photographers are to be chosen by the wedding party.

** If you choose a vendor not on the approved list, there is an upcharge of $200 per vendor.

If I hire my own caterer, is there a kitchen available for them?
Yes, we do have a prep kitchen available. This kitchen includes a refrigerator, prep table, shelves, and a sink. It does not include a stove or oven; it does not include cooking or dining ware.
Are linens, plates, silverware, and glassware provided, or will I have to rent them myself or get them through my caterer?
Crest Farm Barn has several black linens you can rent; however, you will need to purchase or rent your linens if you prefer another color. You will need to purchase or rent your plates, silverware, and glassware from a vendor.
Do you have a list of preferred security officers?
Yes. A list of security officers is available.
Do you have a list of preferred bartenders?
Yes. A list of bartenders are available.
Are we allowed to bring in our own decorations?
Yes, as long as they are approved in advance. Personal decorations must be removed by the wedding party, unless you receive prior approval.
Can we move things around when decorating the barn?
You may certainly move things around if you receive prior permission and move them back when finished (unless an agreement can be reached before the wedding).
Does your venue allow live bands and/or DJ’s?
Yes, live bands and DJ’s are welcome if pre-approved by Crest Farm Barn. In fact, Crest Farm Barn has a wedding/party band. Flashback is an 8-piece band, which plays hits from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and Classic Country, which can be secured for price of $1600.
